Several Arrested on Alcohol and Drug Charges

Officers of the North Vernon Police Department Arrested five individuals on assorted charges on July 4th. All charges stem from individuals who were drinking and driving.

At 6:30pm officers Arrested Lauren Leslie-Timmons, 31, of North Vernon for Operating While Intoxicated (A-Misdemeanor) and Operating with a BAC over 0.15 (A-Misdemeanor).

At 9:50pm officers responded to a Personal Injury Crash on North State Street by the City Park. One vehicle fled the scene but was quickly located by officers on West O&M Avenue with the help of a citizen who witnessed the crash. Justin Thompson, 24, of North Vernon was Arrested on charges of Operating While Intoxicated causing Injury (D-Felony), Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident (D-Felony) and a Chemical Test Refusal. Also Arrested out of Thompson's vehicle was Gregory Louden, 26, of Columbus for Resisting Law Enforcement.

Charges are Pending on the other driver involved in this accident. Jody McCammon, 39, of Paris Crossing was taken to the hosiptal by Rescue 20. He will be facing the charge of Possession of Marijuana (A-Misdemeanor). Officers are waiting on Toxicology reports to determine if more charges will be applied. He was not taken into custody at this time due to being treated for injuries sustained in the crash.

While officers were investigating the crash listed above, another Personal Injury Crash occurred. A vehicle driven by Sherri Kelvig, 46, of North Vernon struck a pedestrian, Cassie M Adams, 45, of North Vernon causing Minor Injuries. Kelvig is charged with Operating While Intoxicated Endangerment (D Felony).

All activities within the City Park went extremely well even with the rainy weather conditions.
