Officers of the North Vernon Police Department have Arrested Timothy Sanders, 19, of North Vernon on charges of Robbery (B-Felony), Battery (A-Misdemeanor), Resisting by Fleeing (A-Misdemeanor), and Illegal Consumption (B-Misdemeanor).

On April 10, 2007 at about 9:24pm, officers of the North Vernon Police Department were dispatched to a Robbery at the House of Spirits on North State Street in which the Employee had been Battered.

Officers arrived and began searching the area for the suspect who had fled the business on foot. A short time later, officer Brian Taylor located the suspect on Meadow Lane. After being confronted by Officer Taylor, the suspect fled on foot.

Officer Taylor began a foot pursuit and used his remote door opener to release his K-9, Blade, from his police vehicle. Blade quickly passed Officer Taylor and was able to catch the suspect and knock him to the ground. Officer Taylor and Deputy Matt Staples proceeded to take the suspect into custody.

Assisting North Vernon Officers were Deputies of the Jennings County Sheriff's Department. Sanders is being held in the Jennings County Jail on $75,500 bond.
