Robbery at House of Spirits on North State Street

On the evening of April 10, 2007 officers of the North Vernon Police Department received a report of a Robbery that had occurred at The House Of Spirits liquor store on North State Street. According to the report, a young male had stolen a bottle of liquor and had used force against a clerk at the store.
Shortly after the incident, Ofc. Taylor and his K-9 partner observed a male subject (matching the description that was given) walking on Meadow Lane. After attempting to make contact with the person, the suspect fled on foot and refused to stop when ordered. Ofc. Taylor released K-9 Blade during the pursuit and the suspect, Tim Sanders, was apprehended by the dog. Mr. Sanders was uninjured during the apprehension and was taken into custody without further incident.
Mr. Sanders was charged with Robbery, Resisting Law Enforcement, Battery, and Minor Consumption. Officers assisting were Sgt. Craig Kipper, Sgt. Nick Megel, Ofc. Todd Fleetwood and Deputies Anthony Mayberry, Matt Staples, and Steve Marsh of the Jennings County Sheriff's Department.
This was the 9th arrest that K-9 Blade has been responsible for since completing training and entering service on April 1 2007.
