On the afternoon of Thursday, August 3, 2006, the North Vernon Police department received a donation of approximately 20 stuffed animals from Dalton Cook, age 14, of New Castle, Indiana. Dalton came to the Police Department with his Grandmother, Elsie Rush, whom lives in Jennings County. Dalton is in the area visiting with her and her sister Paulette Hammons.

Dalton stated that he plays the crane games at local businesses to get the animals and wanted to donate them to help comfort children during traumatic events.

Dalton's Grandmother, Elsie, stated that her brother, Bill Lamb, was an officer in the area and she still tries to stay active and help Law Enforcement when possible.

The North Vernon Police Department greatly appreciates this donation. The stuffed animals will be used by Officers to help comfort children during extreme emergencies and calls.
