Cocaine Dealer Arrested

On Saturday, June 3rd, at about 5:30 pm, officers of both the North Vernon Drug Investigation Team and Emergency Response Team served a search warrant at a residence on Hoosier Street.

After an extensive investigation including surveillance and controlled drug buys, officers of the Drug Investigation Team were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence. Once the warrant was served, drugs and paraphernalia were located at the residence.

Richard D. Palmer, 20, of North Vernon was Arrested for Dealing in Cocaine, a B Felony, and Possession of Cocaine less than 3 grams, a D Felony. Megan M. Matern, 19, of North Vernon was Arrested for Possession of Cocaine less than 3 grams, a D Felony. Both were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jennings County Jail for processing.

While searching the residence, officers located about a full gram of Powder Cocaine, Digital Scales, Baggies, a Police Scanner, Cash, and several other items of drug paraphernalia used for Marijuana and Cocaine.

Officers involved with the investigation and service of this warrant include Lt. James Webster, Officer Randal Miller, Officer Jason Allen, Officer Craig Kipper, Officer Keith Messer, Officer Matt Staples, Detective Brian Taylor, Officer Nathan Floyd, and Officer Andrew Richmond.
