Seymour Man Arrested on Multiple Narcotics Charges

On Saturday June 3, 2006 at approximately 1:30 a.m. Officer Craig Kipper and Sergeant Nick Megel of the North Vernon Police Department initiated a consensual encounter with two men outside the Circle K BP Gas Station located at the corner of JFK Street and North State Street. Officer Jason L. Allen, Officer Randel L. Miller, and Probation Officer Corey Walker arrived a short time later.
Through information gathered earlier in the evening by North Vernon Police Department Drug Team members, officers had reason to believe the vehicle, a red 1997 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup, and the men occupying the vehicle were possibly involved in illegal drug trafficking.
The driver of the vehicle, Aaron Reed (35) of Seymour, and passenger Brian Bridge (22) of Seymour were identified. It was determined that Mr. Reed’s vehicle was subject to a search. Officers spoke briefly to Mr. Bridge, who was seated in the passenger compartment of the vehicle, before detecting the odor of burnt marijuana coming from his person.
Mr. Bridge was asked to exit the vehicle. No items of evidentiary value were located inside the vehicle or on Mr. Reed’s person. However, officers seized approximately 79 grams of marijuana, approximately 3 grams of “Fluff” cocaine, several empty sandwich baggies, and 4 Schedule III narcotic tablets from Mr. Bridge’s person.
Mr. Bridge was Arrested for Dealing in Cocaine, a class A Felony, Dealing Marijuana (greater than 30 grams), a class D Felony, Possession of Cocaine, a class C Felony, Possession of Marijuana (greater than 30 grams), a class D Felony, and Possession of a Schedule III Narcotic, a class D Felony.
Mr. Bridge is currently being held at the Jennings County Jail on the above charges.
Officers of the North Vernon Police Department, assisted by the Seymour Police Department, conducted a search of Mr. Bridge’s residence in Seymour. Officers seized approximately 2 grams of cocaine, scales, paraphernalia, and 20 prescription muscle relaxers, a Legend Drug Violation.
Officers involved in information gathering and investigation include: Sergeant Nick Megel, Officer Randel Miller, Officer Jason L. Allen, Officer Craig Kipper, Reserve Officer Matt Staples, Reserve Officer Mike Stackhouse, and Jennings County Probation Officer Corey Walker.
