The Police Chaplain Program is comprised of 24-hour on-call clergy members who volunteer their services to the police department and the community during times of crisis, conflict, confusion, loss, sorrow, depression, and grief.

Chaplains are led by their own faith to always be available as a source of strength to the law enforcement officers and their families, other department members, crime and accident victims, troubled citizens such as runaways and the very depressed, and those who are incarcerated.

Police Chaplains assist police personnel with a variety of situations in the field such as death notification, child deaths, lost or missing persons, serious illness and suicides. They also respond to major incidents and disasters such as plane crashes, multiple injury incidents, officer-involved shootings and to assist with crisis intervention.

Chaplains participate in ride-alongs where, in time, officers' confidence is gained. As a result, ride-alongs can turn a police car into a "psychologist’s office" or a "confessional".

"No one is confronted with more situations that demoralize and create emotional, mental and spiritual burdens than today’s law enforcement officer. These burdens also affect the officer’s family and other members of his or her department. Law enforcement agencies need the specialized guidance, counseling and assistance for their officers, families and communities." - From the International Conference of Police Chaplains
